Gilching, April 26, 2023 – The pro-beam Group, a global leader in electron beam technology, has won two Red Dot Design Awards in the 2023 Product Design category. Both the PB WEBAM 100 and PB EBM 30S additive manufacturing systems received awards. The latter received the title “Red Dot: Best of the Best”, the highest award of the competition.
With these awards, the jury of the renowned Red Dot Design Awards honored the characteristic design of the pro-beam systems. The redesign of the machines was specifically aligned with the needs of the operators. It now has an impressive, new modular concept, clear form language, general user-friendliness and aesthetics. This allows for process and handling safety as well as a positive working environment for employees. In addition, the design development focused on safety as well as a compact and contemporary design that differentiates itself from the competition.

The PB WEBAM 100 is an electron beam system for the wire-based additive manufacturing of metal components. The machine consists of a process unit with vacuum chamber, as well as a compact supply unit, the POWERCUBE.
PB EBM 30S, awarded the “Red Dot: Best of the Best”, is also based on electron beam technology and uses additive manufacturing to produce small, highly detailed metal components in a powder bed. Additionally, to the process and supply units, this production line features an airlock as well as a Transport Unit, which enable a highest possible utilization of the build chamber and maximize productivity.

The awards for the PB WEBAM 100 and PB EBM 30S systems show that the pro-beam Group is not only a technological leader, but also a leader that develops innovative solutions that keep the user in focus.

The Red Dot Design Award is an international design prize that has been awarded since 1955. It honors outstanding achievements in various categories such as product or communication design and is considered one of the most important design awards worldwide. A jury of experts evaluates the submissions according to criteria such as aesthetics, functionality, innovation and sustainability.
