Gilching, May 24, 2023 - The pro-beam Group, a global leader in electron beam technology, receives the iF Design Award for the two additive manufacturing systems PB WEBAM 100 and PB EBM 30S shortly after its success at the 2023 Red Dot Design Awards.
The system design won the 2023 iF Design Award in the discipline Product Design in the category Industry/Tools. With this award, the jury honored the form, functionality, and aesthetics of these systems. The design focused on general user-friendliness as well as safety, a new modular construction, and a clear design language.
“We are extremely pleased that our machine design has won two design awards in a row,” says Dr. Thorsten Löwer, Managing Director at pro-beam, “especially since we will roll out the redesign to our entire portfolio.”
Using the PB WEBAM 100, an electron beam system for wire-based additive manufacturing, metal components can be produced fast and with high quality. The system consists of a process unit with vacuum chamber, as well as a compact supply unit, the POWERCUBE.
The powder bed-based system PB EBM 30S also relies on electron beam technology to additively produce small, highly detailed metal components. In addition to the characteristic process and supply units, this machine features an airlock as well as a Transport Unit, which create the greatest possible utilization of the construction chamber, thus maximizing productivity.
